I’m Rita Njahira Gathara—founder of Somm’n Different, wine educator, and Nairobi-born woman who learned that knowing your wine isn’t enough if they’ve already decided you don’t belong at the table.

I created Somm’n Different to make wine feel like something you’re already part of—not something you have to earn through French, fluff, or finesse.

My background? Hospitality, entrepreneurship, WSET training and a lot more. I am Nairobi born and globally seasoned - like the wines I love.

My gift? Breaking down wine without watering down culture.

I teach wine the way I drink it: slow, rich, and no pressure. Whether you’re prepping for your first tasting trip, want to impress your coworkers at a work dinner or just tired of the jargon, this space is yours.
